Student Billing
How do I view/ pay my bill?
When is the Spring 2026 semester bill due?
February 10th
When do I pay, and how much?
Tuition, fees, residence hall charges, health insurance and other institutional charges for the fall semester will be assessed late July. For Fall, these assessments will be viewable in RAMweb and billed in August with a due date of September 10th.
For Spring, these assessments will be viewable in RAMweb and billed by the first Friday in January with a due date of February 10th. If September 10th or February 10th lands on a weekend, the due date is the following business day.
The eBilling notification dates and due dates for each semester are published in the online Class Schedule, in the General Catalog, and in Office of Financial Aid publications. The assessment timeframes, eBilling notification dates, and due dates for each semester are as follows:
| Term | Assessment Timeframe | eBill Date | Due Date |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fall | Mid-to-late July | Mid-August | September 10th |
| Spring | First Friday in January | Mid-January | February 10th |
| Summer | First week in May | Mid-May | June 10th |
Charges that are incurred after the bill date for the semester will be billed mid-month of the following month and have a due date of the 10th of the month after that statement date or the following business day if the 10th falls on a weekend or University holiday.
What happens if I do not pay my bill by the billing due date?
You’ll be charged a 1.5% payment deferral charge each month the bill goes past due and registration/transcript holds may be applied.
If you are enrolled in a current term payment plan, you can disregard this.
Any student who completes registration agrees to pay the University according to the payment terms documented in the online Colorado State University Class Schedule under the Payment of Accounts section. To encourage prompt payment, the University assesses a 1.5% per month payment deferral charge on the past due amount if the payment does not arrive by the due date for the current semester. In addition to the payment deferral charge, the University will assess a financial “hold” which restricts access to the registration system and restricts the release of transcripts and diplomas. Late payment charges at 1.5% will be assessed monthly after the student is no longer enrolled.
When will I receive my financial aid refund?
The earliest date a student may receive a direct deposit refund in their personal bank account for the Spring 2026 semester is January 14th. For students who have not opted for direct deposit refund, the 1st batch of refund checks will be mailed Monday, January 20th.
Any of the above dates or timelines can be delayed if a student is part-time or making registration changes. The delivery timeline of mailed refund checks depends on distance, carrier, and other factors.
For more information about refunds, visit our page on financial aid refunds!
I dropped/ added a class. When will my bill be adjusted?
Immediately! This happens in real time before the add/drop deadline. To see the most recent bill on RAMweb, you’ll want to select Billing and Tax Information > Billing Information > Up to Date Account Activity.
I have a past due balance from last semester. Will my financial aid cover it?
Your financial aid cannot pay out unless you are enrolled at least part-time. Chat with us if you have a past due balance that is preventing you from registering for the next semester with us here at CSU!
What is differential tuition?
An additional tuition charge that all juniors and seniors are charged, as well as sophomores and up in the College of Business. Read more here.
Can my registration hold/ transcript hold be temporarily lifted?
No, we cannot temporarily lift a registration hold. CSU requires your past due balance to be paid in full in order to register for future terms. Please contact The Hub about your potential options to pay the balance and get registered for classes.
A waiver to temporarily lift a transcript hold may be requested under certain conditions. Please contact The Hub for more information on this process.
Where do I send my college savings or 529 payment?
Checks for college savings or 529 plans should be mailed to the Cashier’s Office. Please be sure to include the student’s CSUID number when mailing checks.
Many 529 College Savings Plans offer an electronic payment option, which saves time and improves transparency with real-time tracking. When requesting a withdrawal from your 529 account, check with your plan manager to see if a digital distribution option is available.

What are Day One Access charges from the Bookstore?
The Day Once Access Program through the CSU bookstore provides students access to digital materials the first day of classes. Students are automatically opted into the program and must opt out if they wish to purchase the materials on their own. The opt out deadline is the final Add/Drop date of the semester, after which, the charge(s) will appear on the student account. For more information, please visit https://www.bookstore.colostate.edu/day-one
What will the University Billing Statement look like?
Please read the “Understanding My Student Billing Statement” for four quick steps on how to understand the student billing statement. It is a great example of what a semester billing statement may include and gives links to additional information on possible charges and credits.
Where are my bills sent?
Students will receive an email notification letting them know that a new bill has been created and is available to view online in RAMweb. Students may also elect to have this notification sent to designated individuals such as parents or other family members. Students can designate trusted individuals on RAMweb under the Records link (FAMweb).
Students will receive this email notification at their eID email address indicated on RAMweb and will be referred to RAMweb to view the online billing statement.
Designated individuals will receive this email notification at the email address the student indicates on RAMweb “eBilling Information” and they will be referred to http://famweb.colostate.edu/ to view the online billing statement.
May I have my bills mailed home?
No, the University will send email notifications to students and other individuals they have designated that the billing statement is available online. Student can designate individuals to view the bill online via RAMweb, Records (FAMweb).
College Opportunity Fund
What is the College Opportunity Fund?
The College Opportunity Fund (COF) provides state tax dollars to eligible undergraduate Colorado resident students paying in-state tuition.
The current COF stipend amount is $104 per COF-eligible credit (enrollment as of the end of course add/ drop).
Students must:
- Apply – The application is available on the College Opportunity Fund website.
- Authorize – Grant CSU the permission to request your stipend from the state of Colorado from the link provided on your RAMweb (see instructions in FAQ below).
- First-year students will be able to authorize their stipend only after registering for courses.
- Register – Register for resident instruction (RI), undergraduate courses on RAMweb.
Students must provide their social security number (SSN) or a COF assigned ID number to CSU. This enables CSU to request the stipend from the state.
Please note: Distance Degree (CSU Online) and Education Abroad students are not eligible for College Opportunity Fund (COF) funding.
I am a Colorado resident, am I eligible for the College Opportunity Fund?
Yes! If you are a Colorado Resident enrolled in on campus classes, you are eligible for a $116 dollar per credit hour payment. COF is not considered financial aid so you will only see it on your bill, not your financial aid awards page. If you do not sign up for COF, you could be losing out on $1,740 per semester if you are enrolled in 15 credits. Click here to apply!
What if I have already used 145 credits with the College Opportunity Fund? Can I get more?
Yes. There are two ways to get more COF.
- The first is an Institutional Waiver. CSU will automatically process this waiver for you during your first eligible term. That Waiver is good for three consecutive terms and will end on the third term regardless of if you attend those terms.
- The second is a State Waiver. After your third term under the Institutional Waiver, you will have to appeal to state for more COF. The application for the State Waiver for additional COF funding can be found here.
Financial Aid
How can I view my financial aid offers or requirements?
Go to RAMweb and select “Financial Aid” via the Menu in the top-right corner of the page to view your eligibility, offers, or requirements for a given academic year.
How does my financial aid get applied to my bill?
After all financial aid requirements have been met, grants, scholarships, and loans will be credited directly to the University student account no earlier than ten days prior to the first day of class.
Federal financial aid will pay up to $200 of prior year institutional charges and all current year institutional charges. Students may authorize payment of non-institutional charges. State, institutional, and private financial aid will pay all charges.
Changes in enrollment status may affect tuition and fee assessments as well as financial aid eligibility and the award amount.
Refunds may only be issued if your financial aid exceeds the total amount billed to your University student account, the residual aid will be refunded to you for other educational expenses.
If a credit balance is refunded, and subsequent charges are posted to the student’s University student account, those charges must be paid when billed.
How do I see if my financial aid has paid out? Why haven't I received my financial aid?
Financial aid can only pay out 10 days prior to the first day classes, provided you meet all the disbursement and eligibility criteria. Once your aid disburses you will be able to see it as a credit on your bill. To view, navigate to the Billing and Tax Information page of RAMweb and select “Up-to-Date Account Activity”.
I want to go from full-time to part time. How will that impact my financial aid?
You must be enrolled in a certain number of credits to receive financial aid, in addition to meeting all other eligibility criteria. View the enrollment & eligibility chart here.
The Office of Financial Aid considers you enrolled full-time at 12 credits as an undergraduate or 9 credits as a graduate. You pay full-time tuition when you are enrolled in 12 or more credits as an undergraduate and 9 or more credits as a graduate.
Credits received through registration audits, correspondence, and test-outs do not count toward enrollment for financial aid.
How do I accept my loans?
Student loans may be accepted on RAMweb. To accept, reduce or decline your loans navigate to the awards page of RAMweb by selecting Menu > Financial aid> Offers and Requirements > 24-25 academic year> Offers tab. Students who are first time loan borrowers will need to complete entrance counseling and a master promissory note on StudentAid.gov before their loans can pay out.
Parent PLUS loans cannot be accepted on RAMweb or FAMweb. To apply for and accept a Parent PLUS loan, a parent must complete a loan application and the Master Promissory Note at StudentAid.gov.
How do I complete electronic forms or other financial aid requirements (verification)?
I have completed my Entrance Counseling, and/ or my Master Promissory Note. Why does RAMweb still show those requirements to be completed?
It takes about 3 to 5 business days for us to receive these once they’ve been submitted.
When will my employee study benefits be processed?
Employee Study Privilege forms are processed by the Registrar’s Office and Human Resources. Please be aware that it may take 3 to 4 weeks after the add/drop deadline for the Employee Study Privilege to be reflected on your account. Additionally, we ask that you note that those using the Employee Study Privilege will be automatically exempt from the payment due date and the following payment deferral charge.
Why is my WUE not on my financial aid offer letter?
WUE is a tuition discount that will only be viewable on the student bill. It will not be part of the financial aid offer letter.
Am I eligible for financial aid if I am in a Continuous Registration status or Planned Leave?
No, graduate students in Continuous Registration status or undergraduates on approved Planned Undergraduate Leave are not eligible to receive financial aid and are not eligible for an in-school deferment on their previous student loans because they are not registered for actual credits.
I've already been offered financial aid. Now I have received a request for my IRS federal income tax transcript or additional information. Why?
Although students are usually asked to verify their student aid application data before their financial aid is offered, they may be selected for verification at any time. Students are selected randomly and must provide documentation to verify information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Changes made as a result of this review may affect financial aid eligibility or amounts, depending on circumstances.
Participation is mandatory and non-compliance can result in the cancellation of all financial aid.
Will my financial aid be adjusted if I receive a scholarship, grant, or other financial aid resource?
All resources, such as scholarships, graduate assistantships, fellowships, vocational rehabilitation benefits, alternative loans, etc., must be reported to the Office of Financial Aid.
The total of your resources and financial aid cannot exceed your yearly estimated educational expenses for attending CSU. Should your financial aid funding exceed your calculated cost of attendance, your financial aid may be adjusted due to that overaward.
Regarding Overawards:
An overaward occurs when the total amount of financial aid a student receives exceeds their calculated financial need or the cost of attendance at Colorado State University. This can happen for several reasons, including:
Additional Aid: If you receive scholarships, grants, or other financial assistance after your initial financial aid package was awarded, it may push your total aid above your eligibility limit.
Changes in Enrollment: If your enrollment status changes (e.g., dropping below full-time), your cost of attendance may decrease, which could result in an overaward.
Changes in Financial Information: If your financial situation changes (e.g., updated FAFSA information), your financial need calculation may be adjusted, potentially leading to an overaward.
What Happens If You Have an Overaward?
- CSU is required by federal regulations to resolve overawards. This may involve reducing or canceling certain types of financial aid (e.g., loans, grants, or work-study) to bring your total aid within your eligibility limits.
- When possible, we reduce loans first.
Do my schedule changes during the course add/course drop period impact my financial aid?
Yes. Financial aid is paid based on the number of credits in which you are enrolled. As you add and/or drop classes, your financial aid is adjusted.
At the end of the course add/course drop period, when your schedule is finalized for the semester, your eligibility for most financial aid is also finalized based on your credits at that time.
Your eligibility for Direct Student and PLUS loans after the course add/course drop period is based on your actual enrollment at the point in time of disbursement. Your aid will not be increased if you add courses later.
What happens if I completely withdraw from all of my classes during the course add or course drop period?
You must repay 100% of the federal, state, and institutional financial aid you received, including any financial aid refund you may have received. You may also be assessed a percentage of tuition and fees.
What happens if I receive a combination of “F”, “U”, and/or “W” grades?
The last date of class participation must be verified for students who receive all F, U, and/or W grades. A student may be required to return up to 100% of the financial aid received if participation cannot be verified.
Scholarships
I just received another scholarship. Will my financial aid be adjusted?
Your financial aid cannot exceed your estimated cost of attendance. If your offered financial aid (grants, loans, scholarships, work study) meets or exceeds your cost of attendance, we will need to reduce your other financial aid to make room for your scholarship.
We reduce the least desirable aid first, however your need-based aid (grants, scholarships, work study) cannot exceed your financial need. Financial need is determined by subtracting your Student Aid Index (SAI) as determined by FAFSA from your Cost of Attendance. Please contact us if you have questions about how your financial aid is affected by a scholarship.
How do I send my scholarship check to you?
New: All scholarship checks are processed by the Cashier’s Office. Their mailing address is listed below.
Please Provide Us with the Following Information:
- Student’s full name
- Student’s CSUID number, if known. (Do not include the student’s Social Security Number. In accordance with state and federal laws, Colorado State University has discontinued the use of Social Security Number as primary identifier for students. If Social Security Number is the only known identifier, use only the last 4 digits, e.g., xxx-xx-4321.)
- Student’s home address, if no CSUID number can be obtained
- Name of scholarship
- Contact person’s name
- Address and phone number of agency/contact person
- Is the scholarship for fall and spring semesters or one semester only? If the donor does not specify, we will split anything above $2000 between fall and spring semesters.

Note: We are unable to send grade transcripts to donors from our office. However, students can request an official transcript for a fee, or print an unofficial transcript via RAMweb. Go to RAMweb and login using your NetID, then select Transcript (Official) or Transcript (Unofficial) under the Records section.
Are there scholarship opportunities I can tap into?
Yes! Visit our scholarships pages on our website for more information.
My scholarship donor needs a letter to verify my enrollment. How can I get one?
Some donors require verification of enrollment – luckily, there is a self-serve scholarship verification letter on RAMweb. Select Financial Aid from the Main Menu and then click on the Scholarship Registration Verification link.
In some cases, you may also even be able to send your scholarship donor a printout of your schedule from RAMweb.
When will you process my dependent tuition scholarship for my eligible family member(s)?
The tuition scholarship will be processed after the add/drop deadline each semester, because enrollment can change until that date. Please note those using the tuition scholarship will be automatically exempt from that semester’s payment due date and the payment deferral charge if the application is received prior to the due date.
Residency
How do I petition for in-state (Colorado) residency?
Check out the Office of Financial Aid’s website to find out if you are eligible to petition for residency and learn more about the residency orientation you will need to complete in order to receive a residency petition. We encourage you to complete the orientation as soon as possible if you intend to petition for residency in the future.
What happens if I miss the deadline to petition for in-state residency?
The Office of Financial Aid is not able to accept late residency petitions. Submissions after the stated due date – found on the Office of Financial Aid’s page for the Residency Process and Deadlines – will not be accepted after the published deadline date.
- Mailed petitions must be postmarked by the deadline date.
- If you are a new student admitted to CSU no earlier than 30 days before the posted petition deadline or after the posted petition deadline, please contact the Tuition Classification Officer team as soon as possible to inquire about the petition process for your circumstances.
- Incomplete petitions will not be accepted and/or reviewed and your tuition classification and tuition assessment will remain non-resident for that term.
- Residency statutes do not permit retroactive tuition re-classification.
- Guest Students whose applications are processed after the first day of classes for each semester and who want to petition for in-state tuition classification, must contact the Tuition Classification Officer team. Petitions must be submitted by the end of course add/course drop for the semester.

Parent/ Support Network Resources
I got asked about FERPA consent, what does that mean?
What it is:
“FERPA” stands for the federal law known as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (20 U.S.C. § 1232g et seq.).
The FERPA Student Consent to Release Education Records form allows an authorized third party (e.g., parent, grandparent, guardian, support person) to contact The Hub on your behalf and discuss your education records. This consent form allows students to provide legal, expressed consent to that authorized person to access either:
- Financial Aid Records: Includes, but is not limited to, status of file, offers and disbursement of funds information, Satisfactory Academic Progress status, and any other information contained in the financial aid application or file.
or
- Billing Records: Includes, but is not limited to, amounts due for tuition and fees, sources of payment for tuition and fees, refund information, holds as it relates to parking citations, library fines, financial aid repayments, payment plans, and any other information contained in student account records
Alternatively, the student can complete the form to select that their authorized 3rd party can access:
- All Education Records: Includes, but is not limited to, all academic, financial, residency, and personal information
Students can provide or revoke permission for education records to be released by using the Student Consent to Release Education Records form available on the Financial Aid section of RAMweb.
What it isn’t:
It does not provide access to your medical, student conduct or housing records. For more information on accessing those records, see:
In addition, this form does not provide FAMweb access.
If you would like to learn more about FERPA, including how to contact our office with FERPA in mind, please visit our FERPA Guide webpage.
I heard about Parent Loans - what are those?
Federal Parent PLUS loans are another helpful resource that can be utilized by parents to help students pay for their experience here at CSU. These loans, offered by the federal government, typically offer lower interest rates and more flexible repayment options than private loans.
Unlike grants or work-study, a loan is money that must be repaid – you are legally obligated to repay your loans (even if you do not complete your program), so we encourage you to fully read and understand the terms and conditions of each loan type before accepting a loan.
The minimum requirements for consideration of any federal loan is a complete Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), admission into a degree-seeking program, at least half-time enrollment and cannot be in default on a federal educational loan or owe a repayment of Federal Title IV aid.

- Down payments are made to cover those payments that were missed.
- There will be two additional enrollment ending dates, but they will require a percentage down payment as well.

How do I enter new banking information for the current payment plan? (i.e. add a new credit card, or change the bank account my payment plan pulls from)
You will need to log in and update your banking information on the NelNet website through RAMweb /
FAMweb.
Login to Nelnet Campus Commerce via your RAMweb account, and then proceed to log into NelNet portal. From the menu, select Financial Accounts to update credit card, debit card or bank account information. You may also call NelNet Campus Solutions at 800-470-6014, to speak with a customer service representative to update your account information.
Make sure the information is entered in time for the next scheduled payment date!
What if I didn’t have the payment come out of my bank account that I was expecting?
A few things could have happened:
- Your balance due came to zero.
- You didn’t have enough funds in your bank account.
- NelNet will attempt to take the payment on the next scheduled date, the 20th.
- If they are not able to withdraw the 2nd attempt the plan will be terminated and a hold will be placed on the student’s account.
- You will need to make payment in full to the student’s account to avoid late fees and
registration holds. - NelNet charges a $30 fee for returned payments.
Can I have my rent payment included in the payment plan?
At this time, rent payments need to be made separate from the payment plan; Rent payments cannot be included in the NelNet payment plan.
Is there a charge to process with a credit or debit card or checking account?
- If you choose to pay with credit or with debit cards, there will be a 2.85% service fee added to your payment.
- That percentage is calculated off of the amount being paid per each payment (i.e., $1,000 payment = $28.50 service fee).
- That percentage is calculated off of the amount being paid per each payment (i.e., $1,000 payment = $28.50 service fee).
- NelNet doesn’t charge a fee for auto deductions from your banking account.
How can I terminate/ cancel my payment plan?
You can terminate your plan at any time. To do so:
- Log into QuikPay and select Payment Plan.
- Click on your Agreement ID# – it will be hyperlinked in blue – which will take you to the details page of your payment plan.
- Click on the Terminate button at the bottom of the page.
I paid off my bill and my payment plan took out a payment as well, can the auto-withdraw be reversed?
- NelNet cannot reverse payments – that being said, you will be refunded through the student’s RAMweb account.
- When your balance due is zero, the plan should automatically end, and you shouldn’t need to terminate
the plan. - However, on occasion, the automatic re-balance does occur a few days prior to pulling the payment – so it is possible for a payment to happen and need to be refunded (though rare).
Can I use the payment plan to bypass a registration hold for a past due balance?
No. You will not be eligible to enroll in a payment plan if you have holds on your account. You will need to pay your balance in full before you will be allowed to register.
Can NelNet provide a payment report for tax purposes? How can I get one?
A printable payment summary is available for the customer in their Nelnet account on the Payments tab. It can be printed for a calendar year or a date range.
Will NelNet disclose my personal information to a third party?
No.
NelNet acts as an agent for institutions in administering their payment plans. It is the policy of NelNet to protect all personal and financial information provided to us by all participants. NelNet does not sell or share any non-public personal information or client lists to any third party, except as agreed to by you, or as may be necessary to complete a transaction in the ordinary course of business, or as required under an applicable law.
When and what time will the funds be withdrawn from my bank account?
NelNet specifies the date each payment will occur, but it is your financial institution that determines the time of day the payment is debited. NelNet recommends you check with your financial institution to determine how far in advance funds should be deposited into your account to ensure the automatic payment clears.
If a payment date falls on a weekend or banking holiday, the payment will be attempted the following business day.
Can I adjust my payments after setting them up?
Yes. If the balance that you owe changes, you can rebalance your monthly payment amount. Once charges are viewable on your student account (end of July for fall, beginning of January for spring), you may wish to adjust your scheduled monthly payments to avoid over or under-paying. You may also want to make adjustments to your monthly payment amount if there are changes to your financial aid or class schedule.
What does it mean to rebalance my payment plan? If I am being asked to rebalance, what do I do?
If the balance due on your bill changes for any reason (i.e., adding or dropping a class) your monthly payments will need to be redistributed, or “rebalanced,” evenly across the remaining months of your payment plan.
Here are some steps on how to rebalance your payment plan:
Access the Payment Plan:
- Log in to your RAMweb account.
- Navigate to Billing and Tax Information from the menu.
- Select Billing Information and then click Enroll/Manage Payment Plan.
- Log in to the NelNet Payment Plan system.
Adjust Payments:
- Once logged into NelNet, you can manage your payment plan, which most often involves rebalancing your total current amount due to CSU across all of the remaining payments for that semester’s payment plan.
If you have questions about rebalancing, or want to know the impact of rebalancing on your payments, please contact us!
