Handshake is a Job Portal for posting jobs, internships and more.  Handshake is managed by the Career Center.  Please visit the Career Center website for more information.

Job listings must be posted for a minimum of 3 days before you can close it to begin your selection and hiring process.

  • Employers are required to announce all advancement opportunities and job openings

  • Employers are required to disclose in each job posting the hourly or salary compensation range along with general description of benefits and other potential compensation

  • Employers are prohibited from requesting wage rate history of applicants or requiring it as a condition of employment

  • Employers are required to maintain records of job descriptions and wage rate history for each employee while employed and for 2 years after employment ends

  • When submitting an Oracle request, insert the Handshake posting number

Yes, posting jobs multiple ways is encouraged.  The more places you post, the more students the job posting will reach.  Handshake posting is the minimum requirement.

If the job is not listed on Handshake for at least 3 days, the hiring action in Oracle will be rejected.

  • No, if the student is continuing in the same position, you will just need to re-activate the assignment in Oracle.
  • This would also apply to students who leave for Study Abroad or other similar situations.

Yes, you will need to post all promotional opportunities in Handshake.

No, create a concurrent work-study assignment and add a note in the comment section explaining why this position was not posted.

  • In Handshake, you can indicate how many openings you have to create the pool of students to select from.
  • This pool must have specific job duties (i.e. tutors for the following subjects…)

When filling out the form, you can indicate whether the position is for a work-study or an hourly student.  All students can see the work-study listing, but only individuals with work-study awards will be able to complete the application form.

No, if a student has unapproved time entries, they will not get paid. If a student has multiple assignments and one assignment has an unapproved time entry, the student will not get paid on any assignments.

As a best practice, supervisors should log into TCP on a weekly, if not daily basis, and make sure all appropriate hours are approved.

If the assignment is active, please submit an Oracle workflow request to suspend the assignment (effective date should be a Saturday that begins a pay period).

If the assignment is terminated or suspended, then the past supervisor will be removed after the last pay period is pulled from TCP.

If you are still seeing a student in TCP after this, please contact Central HRIS for assistance.

If you are hiring a Foreign National, please share the Foreign National Employee New Hire Handout with new international employees so they know how to contact Business and Financial Services to complete their tax forms.

If you have a Foreign National who is not able to arrive by their planned position start date, please contact Business and Financial Services. They will need to discuss the available options as CSU cannot facilitate international payroll.

We do not currently list any positions that are for Independent Contractors where the student would receive a 1099 at the end of the year, or for marijuana-related industries including hemp.  We reserve the right to prohibit employers from posting positions if we have received complaints from students in the past.

All job postings must have a stated rate of pay of minimum wage or greater than Colorado’s minimum wage.

  • Colorado State University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution and complies with all federal and Colorado state laws, regulations, and executive orders regarding affirmative action requirements in all programs.  We reserve the right to edit or refuse your job announcement for inappropriateness, or noncompliance with equal opportunity/affirmative action law.

Changes on a current assignment must occur on a Saturday that begins a pay period.
New hire assignments and new concurrent assignments can have any effective date.

No, students can only have one work-study assignment. If a work study student is changing jobs/departments the work study assignment is transferred to the new department. The new employer initiates transfer of assignment from previous employer.

Student assignments need to be suspended, not terminated. Suspensions are a change to an assignment; therefore, the suspension effective date needs to be a Saturday that begins a pay period.

Must be at minimum wage or job category minimum amount and must be within the job category salary range. If the wage is not within the job category range, Oracle will not process it and the student is not paid.

A student’s salary should not be reduced unless changing jobs or having duties reduced. Insert the reasoning for the wage decrease in the comments section when submitting the change request.

All new employees must have a SSA-1945 and Form I-9 completed in Equifax before an approval request will be processed.

Background checks are mandatory for all new employees to CSU. For more information, please visit the HR website. Background check completion info should be included in comment section.

All student job openings must be posted on Handshake. Insert Handshake posting numbers in the comment section when submitting a new hire or a new concurrent assignment action request.

You cannot have Associate assignments and a student assignment active at the same time. You also cannot have a Non-student hourly and a student assignment active at the same time.
